How Long Does It Take For A Mummy Makeover Recovery?
Added on 9th August 2019
What is a mummy makeover recovery dependant on?
There are different factors that are dependant on the length of time it takes for you to recover from a mummy makeover procedure. The 2 areas that are commonly worked on during a mummy makeover procedure are the abdomen and breasts, and your mummy makeover recovery period tends to be heavily dependant on the amount of work that’s been conducted on the abdomen.
Will I feel uncomfortable from work completed on my abdomen?
The area where you’re likely to feel the most discomfort during your recovery period is in the abdomen area. This is due to the abdominal wall plication and repair of the muscle split which does take time to heal. Other parts of the procedure such as the initial incision that’s made, the fat removal and liposuction are not as uncomfortable in comparison. It is likely you may feel some niggly pain from the incision but this is a completely different sensation compared to the abdominal wall plication.
How long does it take for my breasts to recover?
The breast side of the procedure is much quicker in terms of recovery compared to the abdomen. This can also be down to whether or not a mastopexy implant is being used during the surgery as this will produce more scarring and you may witness more discomfort in the chest wall.
What should I do to support my recovery?
We highly recommend that in the first week you apply compression garments and breast support. After about a week, you should be able to continue with your normal routine but each patient does recover differently. By 6 weeks you should expect to be fully recovered from the procedure, but again this is highly dependant on your own recovery.
