Bum Lift
A bum lift is a basic procedure which aims to improve the appearance of a saggy or drooping buttocks area. It may be included as part of a lower body lift or in addition to contouring in the groin or thigh area of the body.
What is a Bum Lift?
Also known as buttock augmentation, a bum lift may involve some form of liposuction, an implant for enhancement or contouring (removing excess skin or fat). It is primarily concerned with improving the aesthetic form of the buttocks. Particularly popular if the bum has lost it’s youthful firmness over time due to loss of elasticity or now experiences sagginess following considerable weight loss.

The Bum Lift Consultation Process
During any consultation it is important to be honest about your expectations and desires for cosmetic surgery. If you are seeking surgery based off of someone else’s comments to seek body contouring, then you will not be advised to go ahead with surgery. Your health is of paramount importance during consultation, so it is vital to be honest regarding your current health and lifestyle. A bum lift may be best performed in addition to other procedures, such as a lower or full body lift.
Risks and any limitations will be discussed throughout the consultation, allowing you to choose a procedure which meets your expectations.
Pre-Surgery Preparation for Bum Lift Surgery
A bum lift is performed in a hospital and so you will be under a general anaesthetic. Meaning you will be unconscious throughout the process. If you feel unwell prior to surgery it is important to inform our team, as it may be wiser to postpone the surgery until you are well again. Illness can cause unexpected complications during surgery.
Prior to any surgery you must stop smoking 6 weeks beforehand. As standard, we advice taking at least 2 weeks off from work in order to recover – perhaps more, depending on the type of work that you do.
What to Expect During Bum Lift Surgery?
A simple incision will be made from hip to hip on your lower back. Excess skin is then pulled, succeeding in lifting the buttocks to ensure a more toned appearance. If hip and bum enlargement is desired, then consider the Brazilian bum lift procedure. Any excess skin and fat will be removed, then the wound will be sealed using invisible stitches.
What is the Recovery Period after Saggy Buttocks Surgery?
Following saggy buttocks surgery it may take between 4 to 6 weeks to recover, though it may be up to 8 weeks before your scar fully heals. You will be able to return to light exercise after 1 week, while normal exercise can resume between 4 to 8 weeks depending on your recovery process.
