Brazilian Bum Lift (BBL Surgery)
A Brazilian bum lift (referred to commonly as BBL surgery) is a procedure which people opt for when seeking natural-looking buttocks augmentation.
Please note: Due to the reported risks of mortality in 1 out of 3,000 cases for large volume brazilian butt lifts, Mr Ross only offers small volume fat transfer to the buttocks in carefully selected and informed patients.
What is a Brazilian Bum Lift?
A typically minimally invasive surgery, the Brazilian bum lift is primarily aimed at increasing the size of the buttocks and providing a more aesthetically pleasing shape. It is a simple fat transfer procedure which aims to produce worthwhile results without the use of implants. Excess fat from the surrounding areas – typically the hips, thighs, lower back – is removed with liposuction and then strategically injected back into the buttocks in small volume. Producing both more volume and a better shape.
The Brazilian Bum Lift Consultation Process
At UK Aesthetic, we encourage anyone considering BBL surgery to be completely honest about their expectations and reasons for seeking the procedure. Pressure from another person or unrealistic expectations will mean we advise you not go further with the process. If you are unwell or have poor health, then you may be advised to reconsider.
The risks of the procedure will be fully discussed during the consultation process. As well as the limitations we have put on this particular procedure to avoid any anomalous unfortunate outcomes.
Pre-Surgery Preparation for BBL Surgery
A Brazilian bum lift is typically performed under general anesthesia, this is primarily done to reduce the amount of discomfort during the process as much as possible. If you feel ill prior to your procedure it can have unexpected consequences. Even a sniffle should be reported to our team, so that we can determine whether you are fit to undergo the surgery or not.
Six weeks prior to the surgery you must stop smoking. It is also advisable to stop taking medication which acts as a blood thinner prior to any surgery. At least two weeks off work is also advised, as it may be difficult to sit for long periods of time given the potential discomfort after surgery. Wear loose, comfortable, clothing the day of your surgery to prevent rubbing on the swelling or bruises which are likely to form.
What to Expect During BBL Surgery?
Liposuction from the desired area surrounding your buttocks will be the first step in your BBL surgery. The team will endeavour to keep the incisions from the liposuction portion of the procedure as minimal as possible. These will only be around 3 to 4mm long. This not only removes fat from problem areas, but it is then used to provide a natural boost to your buttocks. The even injection of this across the buttocks area is the second, final, part of the procedure.
What is the Recovery Period after Brazilian Bum Lift Surgery?
Due to the relatively non-invasive nature of the surgery, recovering from BBL surgery is not necessarily a long process. It may take up to 2 weeks for the bruising or swelling to go down following the surgery, as well as for any underlying discomfort to fade.
Who Should Consider the Surgery?
BBL surgery is ideal for those who want to consider a surgery which is relatively non-invasive. Patients who wish to subtly augment the buttocks area should consider it. For those with sagging or loose skin, a traditional bum lift – which involves the removal of excess skin – should be considered prior to the Brazilian bum lift.
Who is Unsuitable for a Brazilian Bum Lift?
Brazilian bum lifts are unsuitable for those who anticipate unrealistic results. BBL surgery is also not practical for someone who wants a large volume increase to the buttocks area. As, here at UK Aesthetics, we keep these fat transfers relatively low in order to ensure the complete safety of the procedure.
Are Brazilian Bum Lifts Safe?
There has been a certain amount of controversy surrounding this particular procedure in recent years. However, here at UK Aesthetics we take a completely safe approach to the procedure in order to reduce any chance of complications which have resulted in a 1 in 3,000 mortality rate. Our low-volume fat transfers ensure that the procedure is done at a completely safe level.
What is a Brazilian Bum Lift Cost?
The cost of the Brazilian bum lift fully depends on the procedure you require, as well as if you may need any additional surgeries. For example, you may wish to remove sagging skin in the buttock area prior to undergoing BBL surgery. As such all costings are tailored to your individual needs at the consultation stage.
