Acne Treatments
Here at UK Aesthetic, we understand that the repercussions of acne can often long outlast the years of teenage flare-ups. For that reason, we offer a number of treatments which can help reduce or improve the appearance of acne scars and dark pigmentation.
What is Acne?
Acne occurs as a result of the sebaceous glands becoming inflamed or infected. The result of this is red spots or pimples on the face, back, neck, chest and upper arms. It is typically a condition experienced in adolescents, but can affect adults and leave behind displeasing scarring. Red marks (known as hyperpigmentation) and acne scars can often last well past the actual acne itself.
Ideal Treatments for Acne
The treatment for the after-effects of acne can be varied, but there are a number of cosmetic procedures which can effectively reduce the visible marks left by acne. This includes both the pink and red acne marks as well as the more pronounced acne scars.
Chemical Peel
A chemical peel can help to remove the dead cells from your skin, which is one of the underlying causes of acne flare-ups. As such it can be a highly effective treatment to help reduce further flare-ups in adults. For best results, you may need more than one treatment.
Laser Resurfacing
The use of laser resurfacing for acne scarring works to remove upper layers of skin. It removes old skin cells to help reveal newer, youthful, cells which can reduce the overall redness of the acne scarring.
Dermal Fillers
For more pronounced, deeper, acne scarring you may wish to consider a dermal filler treatment. This can help to reduce the appearance of scars and help to improve the overall appearance of the skin.
