Plastic Surgery for Men
In the modern world, plastic surgery is not something which is simply restricted to women. Increasingly here at UK Aesthetic we are seeing more men seek out plastic surgery than ever before, for both aesthetic reasons and to help deal with changes to the body.
What is Involved in Plastic Surgery for Men?
Typically, the cosmetic procedures for men and women are quite comparable on the surface. The procedures themselves are very similar, but the way the surgeon manipulates and changes the body does differ based on the two different anatomies. However, our surgeons here at UK Aesthetic are skilled at performing these procedures on a case-by-case basis – whether the patient is male or female. So, there are no obvious restrictions when it comes to plastic surgery for men.
Common Types of Plastic Surgery for Men
Below are some of the most common procedures which can help improve the body contour of men:
Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)
A male breast reduction is not something to be embarrassed over. Gaining weight can lead to a larger proportion of oestrogen in the body, which causes the so-called ‘moobs’ to develop. Other medical conditions which affect the bodies natural testosterone levels can also have the same effect.
Here at UK Aesthetic, we provide a range of breast reduction procedures in order to suit every patient’s needs. Particularly if severe weight loss has occurred. In the case of male breast reduction, the surgery is typically between 60 and 90 minutes. There is an incision made around the nipple and excess fat is removed (sometimes with the help of liposuction). It is unlikely you will need to stay in the hospital overnight following this procedure.

Facelift
A facelift for men can help to return a more youthful appearance to the facial area. It does so as a result of redefining the jawline, removing loose skin and improves the appearance of the neck. It can also work to reduce fine lines and other signs of ageing, to give an all around youthful appearance.

Nose Surgery
Male rhinoplasty is becoming a more popular solution. The reason for this can be purely aesthetic, but there is also the issue of seeking to correct injuries from rugby, football or other high contact sport. The most common reason for rhinoplasty for men is to straighten or improve the shape of the nose.
Rhinoplasty for men can help to reshape, make smaller, improve the bridge, septum and even the nostril or tip of the nose.

Post-Weight Loss
Large amounts of loose skin following significant weight loss can be extremely unflattering. The skin loses elasticity the further it is stretched, so when weight loss is achieved this is often left as excess skin in various areas of the body. This is the same for both men and women.
Here at UK Aesthetic, we offer a number of post-weight loss corrective surgeries for all areas of the body. These surgeries work to remove excess skin, reduce unfortunate fat deposits (typically using liposuction) and work to tighten the remaining tissue or muscles for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Such procedures include arm lift, tummy tucks, bum lift, male breast reduction and thigh lift.
Liposuction
For cases of less severe weight loss the issue remaining may not necessarily be excess skin. Instead, you may simply be left with unflattering pockets of fat which are too stubborn to remove through exercise or weight loss alone. In which case, liposuction can be a quick and simple solution to help you remove these stubborn areas of fat.
We have a range of liposuction solutions here at UK Aesthetic to suit every part of your body. To find out more view the body liposuction, face liposuction or breast liposuction pages.
FAQs
How Much Does Male Plastic Surgery Cost?
Due to the variety of procedures and the differences in each individual case, there is no definitive answer in terms of costs until you have reached the consultation phase. Once a full consultation has been completed you will be given a full cost breakdown. This will cover surgeon’s time, hospital fees and anaesthesia costs for your chosen procedure(s).
Are the Results of Liposuction Long Lasting?
One of the biggest questions we are asked – by both male and female patients – is in regards to the lasting effects of liposuction. So long as you maintain a sensible diet and maintain a good exercise regime, especially following significant weight loss, the fat will not return. However, should you gain weight it may be distributed to other areas of your body. Which is why liposuction should not be used as a means of weight loss in the first instance.
