When Can I Exercise After Rhinoplasty Surgery?
Added on 7th August 2020
How well you recover from rhinoplasty surgery is based on a patient by patient basis and the steps they take to recovery. This will be a large factor that will determine when you’ll be able to exercise after rhinoplasty surgery.
How long does recovery tend to take?
The surgery itself can be relatively painless and once the plaster of Paris is removed around a week following the procedure, you should expect to return to a normal lifestyle shortly after.
During the first two weeks, you may expect to experience some oozing from the nose. Therefore, it’s important to be careful when you exercise after rhinoplasty surgery in that you shouldn’t over-exercise and undertake heavy lifting during this period.
Can I exercise gently?
Exercising gently around a week after the procedure is encouraged. However, it’s important that you take your time before going back to normal levels of exercise that you did before the surgery.
If you find that when you exercise you are beginning to experience pain or further oozing from the nose, then you should stop your exercise immediately. Generally, these can be rare cases and a rhinoplasty procedure shouldn’t prevent you from resuming your normal routine that you had relatively quickly.
We do advise that you should avoid any form of contact sport at least 6 weeks after the surgery as your bones will need time to heal from the surgery. This prevents the risk of trauma occurring on the nose and the healing process taking longer than expected.
