Added on 13th January 2020
The next vlog in our series looks at what is a thigh lift and common questions that may be asked about the procedure by patients before they go through with the surgery. We’ll also discuss in detail the surgery itself.
What is a thigh lift?
Essentially, the procedure involves the process of rejuvenating the thighs as patients tend to see changes in appearance over time and may not be happy with how they look.
Why would changes in my thigh occur over time?
As with most factors in our appearance, there are several common reasons why the appearance of thighs may change over time. These would include:
– Weight loss
– Weight gain
– Ageing
These can cause changes to the skin and produce excess fat which patients would ideally like to improve to provide a more aesthetically pleasing result.
What procedures are provided in thigh lift surgery?
Depending on the reasons for why you wish to have thigh lift surgery, there are several ways that these can be addressed in order to find the results that you’re looking for. These can include the following procedures:
– Liposuction to remove fat
– Skin incision to deal with excess skin
These types of procedures will require an incision being made on the inside of the leg with a scar running vertically down the leg which helps to tighten the skin.
There are also other forms of procedures that can help to improve the appearance of thighs indirectly such as body lifting, abdominoplasty and buttock lifting.
Pros and Cons
There are pros and cons of the various methods available when it comes to thigh lift surgery. These will all be discussed through your consultation as you look to determine which is the best type of method for you and whether you’re happy with the risks involved from having the surgery.
We recommend that looking at similar patients to you can always help to inform your decision and understand what type of thigh lift method would work best for you.
