What Is The Difference Between Round And Teardrop Implants?
Added on 7th January 2020
A common question that patients ask when going through breast implant surgery is discovering what is the difference between round and teardrop implants. In this vlog, we’ll be looking further into each type of implant and what the significant differences are between the two.
What is the difference between round and teardrop implants?
As described, a round implant is round in shape and not necessarily a natural-looking shape for breasts. This is because the width and height of the implant is the same. Where a round implant does have a big difference is in its projection, which is how far the breast comes out from the chest wall.
A teardrop implant, also known as an anatomical implant, has the flexibility to vary in width, height, and projection on the lower pole. This means that the implant can be catered to your chest shape and size, providing a more natural look that is shaped like a breast.
How do the implants work?
There isn’t much difference between round and teardrop implants when it comes to their purpose. Breast implants act as tissue expanders which expand the skin and tissue to form the same shape as the breast implant. So, choosing an anatomical breast implant will expand the breast in the shape of a teardrop.
