I Have Different Shaped Boobs. Can I Have The Same Implant?
Added on 22nd January 2020
Is it natural to have different shaped boobs before surgery?
It should be known that breast differences are extremely common for women. Before breast augmentation, patients tend to question that because they have different shaped boobs, can they still have the same shaped implant.
It’s important to discuss what the pros and cons are of this before making your final decision as there can be benefits and downfalls to having this. It’s often better advised to have the same shape and sized implant in both of the breasts even if the shapes are different.
Case study 1: Different shaped boobs
(Patient 1 is shown above and patient 2 is shown below)
In the first set of before and after photos, we can see a comparison of two different patients after they’ve gone through breast augmentation surgery. In the before photos, we can see that both patients have different shaped boobs that don’t appear symmetrical with one another.
For both cases, the same shaped breast implants are used despite the different shapes. Although there can still be some difference after breast augmentation, these are far less noticeable compared to after the breast augmentation has taken place.
What will happen in the future?
It is possible in the future that you may require a breast revision within 10 years. According to literature, there’s a 30% chance that this can happen. If this is the case, having the same implants for different shaped boobs makes the revision procedure far easier to perform. With this in mind, it’s important to think about this in the short and long term appearance of your surgery.
