Coronavirus Update: A Message From Gary Ross
Added on 30th March 2020
We are currently at unprecedented times within the cosmetic industry and our main aim is to ensure your safety. Therefore, after the recent announcement of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have had to make the difficult decision to close our surgery for the time being based on the government’s latest health guidelines.
The main priority is to ensure that each and every one of you looks after yourselves and the rest of your family, by staying at home. The decision to close our surgery means non-essential aesthetic surgery and treatments are currently suspended.
We will be contacting all our patients to inform you about the changes we are making related to consultations and surgery. Please bear with us but be reassured that we will remain in contact with you during this period of uncertainty.
Please stay safe.
Are non-surgical aesthetic treatments essential?
All non-surgical aesthetic treatments are not essential. Although there are many people that feel it’s necessary to improve the quality of life, they are not essential. Currently, all beauticians, salons and other businesses that offer non-surgical aesthetic treatment have suspended their practices.
All members of the public should adhere to the self-isolation to prevent the spread. This is because non-surgical treatments and facial treatments have a high chance of transmission. By not adhering to the guidance, not only do you put your own safety at risk, but also the safety of others.
Can I still attend a consultation?
During these unprecedented times, therefore we have currently suspended face-to-face consultations and these will not be available. We are currently assessing the options to perform virtual consultations with you. However, we are aware that in the current changing times, we can’t promise anything to patients in terms of surgery until we’re more aware of what the future holds.
In order to be able to provide safe care and safe consultations, we need to prioritise your own safety first. We are therefore contacting all patients regarding consultations to cancel them and providing further guidance around this.
We should expect to be providing virtual consultations soon and once we have a structure in place, we will make you aware.
Are there treatments for COVID-19?
With the proliferation of ‘#Coronavirus’ and other social media platforms, there has unfortunately also been a wealth of fake news and advice offering treatments. The WHO is evaluating all these treatments, whether they have been treated for previous viruses or if there are new antibody treatments or vaccines.
We should not experiment using drugs or advice online. We should instead use the WHO and The Department of Health guidance in order to guide us to the treatments we should be having. We as clinicians will also be doing the same when recommending treatments to patients. You should not be self-treating or spreading treatment advice to others online unless recommended by WHO or The Department of Health.
Stay safe and continue to self-isolate.
