When Can I Exercise Following An Abdominoplasty?
Added on 4th December 2020
After your abdominoplasty procedure
Following your abdominoplasty procedure, patients tend to be reviewed after about a week. It’s around this time that you should expect to gradually go back to your normal routine, including gradual exercise following an abdominoplasty. If for whatever reason, there are complications that will prevent this we will let you know and advise further steps to ensure smooth recovery.
Exercise following an abdominoplasty
In terms of the exercise that you should be able to perform, this can include long walks initially. This is advised as it can help to improve your posture again following your surgery. Once you feel comfortable with slow exercise following an abdominoplasty, you can then begin to start gentle exercise again and your usual program.
It is possible to cycle and swim whilst wearing a garment to keep your results intact. It’s recommended that swimming can begin after about 2-4 weeks as this tends to be around the time when the incisions begin to heal again.
By about the 6-week period, you should expect to be back to your full routine in terms of exercising and keeping fit.
