What Kind of Home Aftercare Following Surgery Will I Need?
Added on 5th January 2021
Before going ahead with surgery, it’s important to consider your travel arrangements to and from the hospital. Your mobility will be lacking and further movement could cause complications with the final results of your surgery. This can also have an impact with home aftercare following surgery as it’s encouraged that you rest as much as possible to enable full recovery. Here we outline the kind of things you should consider for home aftercare following surgery.
Care immediately after surgery
Ideally, you should arrange for someone to pick you up from the hospital following your surgical procedure. This can be for a number of reasons including the influence of anaesthesia and the type of procedure that you have. Ultimately, it’s far safer for someone to pick you up from the hospital.

We highly recommend patients that have cosmetic procedures that involve dressings, it’s important that you don’t drive for at least a week. Whilst it’s rare for patients to be not able to drive during the first week of recovery, you should be utilising the time to recover.
Ideally, it’s extremely important that you rest as much as possible whilst at home and try not to stress at any period of time during the recovery process. It’s ideal that you have someone at home when you have a major surgery that hinders mobility around your house and being able to perform basic, daily tasks.
