Skin Removal Scars in a Fleur de Lis Abdominoplasty

A fleur de lis abdominoplasty can provide skin removal scars vertically down the abdomen. This is different from a traditional abdominoplasty as a fleur de lis requires the removal of more skin. During the procedure, the skin removal scars are coupled with the traditional horizontal scar from a tummy tuck procedure.

Fleur de Lis Skin Removal Scars: Case Study 1

In the first case study provided in the video above, we can see that the patient had vass amounts of excess skin around the abdomen. In particular, it was forming around the central and upper parts of the abdomen. A standard abdominoplasty procedure was unlikely to address this excess fat.

A vertical scar doesn’t tend to be something that patients prefer not to have. If this is something that you also wouldn’t prefer then this can be easily discussed during your consultation. 

Post-operative Images From Case Study 1

We can see from the post-op images of the patient’s surgery how the skin removal scars are visible. In each of the photos, we can see how the scar has changed over time from the procedure. 

In the early stages, the skin removal scars do appear rather pink and red as the skin will still be relatively raw after the surgery. There can be occasions where stitching issues occur with the scar, particularly near the area where the vertical and horizontal scars join. However, over the course of 6-12 months or so, these stitches do tend to mature positively and the scars begin to fade. 

The final image outlines how much the scars can improve over time from having the procedure.

Methods to Improve Skin Removal Scars

There are ways that you can help to improve the appearance of scars after your procedure. Often, patients tend to opt for massaging which is strongly recommended after the surgery. We provide more details about this during your consultation.
