Will There be Any Impact on my Breathing After Rhinoplasty Surgery?
Added on 30th July 2020
What are the changes that can occur to my breathing after rhinoplasty?
It’s natural to feel a change in your breathing after rhinoplasty. You may feel as though your breathing is blocked and you can experience some form of discharge or oozing shortly after the surgery.
You’re likely to feel changes to your breathing for around a week, particularly whilst your plaster of paris is still on. Once your plaster of paris is removed, you should still expect that your breathing is affected for several weeks before it returns back to normal.
Will there be long term effects to my breathing?
It’s extremely rare for your breathing to be affected long term after your rhinoplasty procedure, but you should be aware that this is not guaranteed. Naturally, if you feel our nasal function is blocked in the early stages of your recovery, simple nasal sprays can help to restore your breathing temporarily and aid its function.
To summarise, however, long term effects of your breathing should not be impacted by rhinoplasty surgery.
