How Long Should It Take For Upper Eyelid Surgery Recovery Time?
Due to the area of the face where a blepharoplasty procedure takes place, many patients tend to question the upper eyelid surgery recovery time. This is understandable considering you may have concerns about your vision or uncomfort. In this vlog, we’ll go into more detail about the recovery time and what you should expect after the procedure takes place.
What is an upper eyelid blepharoplasty?
An upper eyelid surgery involves the removal of the skin in the upper eyelid. The procedure is conducted by an incision being created in the crease of the eyelid. Local anaesthetic is available to be taken which can mean upper eyelid surgery recovery time can be relatively short.
What should I expect from the upper eyelid surgery recovery time?
Stitches are used to help seal the incision that was created. After a week, you should expect for these to be removed back at the practice and they can be moved relatively easily. You’re likely to witness some form of bruising too, but this should normally settle after 1-2 weeks.
Case study 1
In the case study provided, we can see the phases of the patient’s recovery after the surgery has been conducted. Preoperatively, we can see the patient has plenty of overhang and heaviness in skin over the eyes. As a result, this has caused vision issues, heaviness and difficulty applying make-up.
The photo in the middle then shows the patients’ results after 2 weeks. Swelling has occurred but this has significantly reduced. Despite this, welling would be expected to decrease massively in this time period which is a standard upper eyelid surgery recovery time.
In the last photo, this shows the results after 6 weeks. The patients’ results are basically settled and the scars are very hidden.
How do I improve the results of my blepharoplasty?
Whilst after 6 weeks your results would have likely completely settled, it’s still important to massage your scars. This will provide improved results for your surgical procedure. As we can see, however, the results from having an upper blepharoplasty are well improved and the downtime is rather minimal.
It’s important to discuss the pros and cons of your procedure during a consultation. Contact us today to book an appointment. You can also visit our blepharoplasty case study page to compare results of other patients that have gone through the procedure too.
