Abdominoplasty at UK Aesthetic
It’s very rare that we have patients that come out of their abdominoplasty surgery unhappy with the results that they’ve received following their procedure. However, there can be occasions when we see patients that are looking at the possibility of a second abdominoplasty being performed elsewhere if they choose to.
Why would you want a second abdominoplasty after already having one?
There can be several reasons why a patient may opt to have a second abdominoplasty despite already having one. This can include:
– Having fat excess
– Irregular scarring
– Skin necrosis has occurred
Skin necrosis occurring in the patient following an abdominoplasty tends to be one of the major reasons why they may opt for a second abdominoplasty. It is possible to have the scars revised but this would be down to the quality of the scar tissue and how much has been left intact, the fat distribution and how much skin access has been left following the procedure.
What can happen with the next abdominoplasty?
If you opt to have another abdominoplasty following your first, it’s important that the existing incisions are revised. In some cases, it may be that a horizontal scar needs to be converted into a fleur de lis pattern abdominoplasty.
Generally, these types of procedures are extremely complex. Therefore, it’s important that the pros and cons of having a second abdominoplasty is discussed to ensure that no further complications occur.
