There are many questions around whether surgical repair of a hernia and abdominoplasty surgery can be combined together, and whether it’s recommended. In our next vlog, more details are provided about this and how a procedure could be completed to repair a hernia combined with abdominoplasty surgery. How much tissue is removed in abdominoplasty surgery depends on the elasticity of the skin around the pubic hair region. Due to the way the way the surgery is performed, the whole of the abdominal wall is visible, which means a hernia can be addressed as part of the abdominoplasty surgery.

It is important to note that the extent of a hernia can determine how a hernia is repaired. In order to combine the repair of the hernia and abdominoplasty surgery, the mesh can either be inserted laparoscopically (via keyhole surgery) or directly in the abdominal wall during the abdominoplasty surgery.
