What is an abdominoplasty?

This form of surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat. Normally, the tissue that’s removed tends to be thrown away. However, it can actually be utilised to harvest and remove fat using the same incisions to be injected into the breasts. The fat is essentially removed apart from the tissue and filtered in order to be purified. Once purified, the fat can be injected in the breasts through small incisions. 

What type of patient would choose to have this type of procedure? 

It can be a common choice of surgery for patients post-pregnancy as muscle splits can occur in the abdominal wall. Patients may also choose this option over a breast implant to provide a more natural-looking appearance as the natural fat can be injected into their breasts.

In the case study provided, this patient has chosen for the abdominoplasty with autologous fat transfer option. She’s decided to have the fat transferred equally between the two breasts.

In the post-images, it shows that there is an increased volume in the upper pole area of the body where the fat has been injected. The fat transfer is more minimally invasive compared to the abdominoplasty procedure which means recovery time is short.
